Our Teachers
Dani Williamson

Dani has been practicing and teaching yoga since 1997. She is a student of world-renowed yoga
instructor Rodney Yee and has completed his teacher training course in Bali. Dani has also studied with
Shiva Rea, Sharon Gannon and others. In 2006 Dani Williamson moved to Nashville with her two young children to make a midlife career change into nursing. After being accepted in to Vanderbilt University's Bridge Program (RN-MSN), she sold her home, most of her family's belongings, loaded the children, the animals in a 21 foot UHAUL and started life over in Nashville as a Certified Nurse Midwife/Family Nurse Practitioner student. Despite the rigours of this program and life as a single parent, Dani is continually drawn back to her passion for teaching yoga. Contact Dani for more information regarding private lessons, small group classes, and workshops by appointment. In private lessons with Dani, you will
discover a playful side to getting in shape
physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Tim Whitaker
Tim is a student of True North Yoga founder Dani Williamson (Hobgood) and has been teaching yoga at True North for four years. He teaches a vigorous power yoga style but offers modifications to make his classes accessible to almost anyone. In addition to Dani, Tim has studied with some of today's most dynamic and innovative yoga teachers including Erich
Schiffmann, Kali Ray, Doug Swenson, Tilak Pyle, Sarah Powers and
others. Even though his classes aren't held in a heated room, you should bring a towel because you will definitely break a sweat.
Carolyn Roof
Carolyn is a student of Tim Whitaker and our newest teacher at True North. She teaches our Gentle Bends class which is perfect for anyone new to yoga, those who might find a power yoga class too challenging or just anyone wanting a more gentle yoga experience. Carolyn's first childhood memory is that of hanging from the
backyard tree branch following by climbing over the surrounding six
foot fence. She has a background in tumbling and
gymnastics but says that she was never drawn to exercise for exercise's sake. Following rotator
cuff injury and a car accident she turned to yoga for healing and recovery. Let her exerience guide the way to maintaining a vitally active life. Teresa Morris
Teresa started her yoga practice five years ago and immediately
fell in love with yoga. She found her
daily practice of meditation, breath work and vinyasa yoga to be a rich resource
for centering and self-care. She was
inspired to share her passion with others and became certified by Yoga Alliance
to teach in May 2007. Teresa teaches
yoga to the clients, staff and volunteers
at the Purchase Area Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy
Center where she is also
employed as a therapist. Teresa has
been certified as a trauma sensitive yoga teacher through the Trauma Center
in Boston, MA, studying under Dave Emerson, RYT and
Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. She is also
certified to teach children’s yoga through the Sun Yoga Kids program and is
looking forward to sharing the bliss and beauty of yoga with children.
Teresa is taking a break from teaching right now but will be back with us in a few weeks.
Shannon McGee
Shannon has been practicing yoga for 10 years and was certified to teach at At One Yoga in Scottsdale, AZ. She was first drawn to yoga for the excellent "workout" but soon discovered the spiritual benefits surpassed the physical practice. She looks forward to sharing her passion with her students highlighting how yoga can inspire you to live your best life. Her class will challenge students to find their own moving meditation by connecting breath with movement. Fun, high energy music and a heated room will help you to open up your body, mind and heart. Open up to happiness... oh, and be ready to sweat!
